THE WINE
Yurilla Vineyard sits on the valley floor and is a warmer site for the King Valley, a perfect fit for Fiano, which originally hails from Campania in Italy and needs some warmth to bring up ripeness in line with its acidity.
Peter’s vineyard is always meticulously kept and it was no surprise to us that the fruit that was delivered into the winery had the perfect numbers we look for in Fiano and was squeaky clean. We are firm believers that good fruit is the key to good wine.
Fermented cool in stainless steel before a short 3 month maturation in older seasoned French oak on light fluffy lees to build some mouthfeel.
The wine displays an abundance of tropical fruits and lychee on the nose that follow through to the palate. Refreshing acidity balanced with a touch of residual sugar that is barely noticeable causes this wine disappears from the glass rather quickly.
